Japan seeks help cleaning up Fukushima

A recent post indicates that Japan has reached out to the USA for help with the Fukushima disaster.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. President Naomi Hirose said he agreed to accept U.S. help in discussions with U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz as they visited the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant on Friday to inspect preparations to remove fuel rods from a storage pool.

The US has played a long role in minimizing the dangers of nuclear radiation and promoting the profits for the corporations. Hanford, Washington, the site of the manufacturing the plutonium  used for the Fat Boy bomb dropped at Nagasaki, remains a toxic waste site.    Has this choice been made on the basis of cronyism or best practices?   Some people believe that the Russians have been more responsible in their cleaning up of Chernobyl.
