An ice dam did not seem to make sense.
Japanese Nuclear Regulation Authority, the NRA, has put the kibosh on plans by Tokyo Electric Power Co. to start freezing underground soil at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant–a stunningly expensive project intended to solve the crisis of accumulating radioactive groundwater at the site. The installation of the equipment required for forming […]
I was struck that they are reducing waste volume by incineration. What type of scrubbers do they have? It seems likely that the gases released are radioactive.
I must admit that I have a bit of a hard time to follow the mathematics of the Japanese government and of the Japanese media when it comes about the Fukushima accumulated waste and its disposal. In November 9, 2014 in its article the french Figaro was speaking of 43 millions cubic meters (metric […]
The Guardian reports that the sea lion problem is much worse than years before.
According to Noaa, more than 4,200 sick sea lions have been washed up inCalifornia so far this year, comfortably the greatest number of strandings over the past decade. A further 100 Guadalupe fur seals and 150 northern fur seals have also been washed up, state-wide.
This time the problem is attributed to El Nino.
Meanwhile closer to home, an old poorly run nuclear waste dump in Nevada spontaneously blew up.. A spike of radioactivity, increasing 50% , briefly, was noted 100 miles away in Las Vegas.

Some believe that the solution to pollution is dilution, and that the Pacific ocean is vast. This is a cute idea, but what is the evidence to support it? If this is scientifically sound, where is the data about the intervention group and the control group? Some people regard the Pacific as a vast collection of water, but others believe that is the source of life. If the ocean dies, we humans most certainly will not survive.
Former WHO Official: Fukushima plant is dumping nuclear waste into ocean on a daily basis; “There’s no foreseeable end to it… and nobody has any good ideas on how to stop it” — Japan gov’t worried that attempts to reduce leakage will cause even more radioactivity to flow into sea (VIDEO) http://enenews.com/former-official-fukushima-plant-dumping-radioactivity-ocean-daily-basis-foreseeable-good-ideas-stop-japan-govt-worried-attempts-stop-going-nuclear-waste-flow-sea-video?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ENENews+%28Energy+News%29 Asahi Shimbun, Oct […]
For four decades, Nina Swaim, from Seabrook to Wall Street to the gates of Vermont Yankee, Nina Swaim wrote, testified, and was arrested battling nuclear power and nuclear weapons, with wit, intelligence and passion. A gathering to commemorate her life will be held 1:00pm on Sunday, November 1st at the Seven Stars Center in Sharon,…
Our cultural faith in rationalism and progress lead us to believe that problems can be solved. The disaster at Fukushima cannot be solved. How many disasters do we need before we decide enough is enough?
